Meet the Team: Emily our Helpline Nurse

Get to know Emily – our Helpline Nurse

  1. My path started with training in myotherapy and then working as a remedial massage therapist for many years. This is where I developed a strong interest in how the body moves and how pain impacts everyday life. Over time, I wanted to deepen my clinical knowledge and expand the way I could support people, which led me into nursing.
  2. I have experience with my own spinal and musculoskeletal challenges, and I live with chronic pain.  This has given me a real appreciation for how persistent pain affects not just the body, but sleep, mood, confidence, and daily life. This lived experience helps me approach callers with genuine empathy and practical understanding.
  3. Living with musculoskeletal conditions can feel isolating and overwhelming, especially when advice is inconsistent or hard to interpret. The Helpline offers a calm, evidence-based voice, and a safe space to ask questions. Sometimes people just need clarity, reassurance, or someone to listen before they can take the next step forward.
  4. I am particularly interested in spinal conditions and how movement, strength and education can rebuild confidence. I am passionate about helping people understand that recovery isn’t always about “fixing” something – it is often about building resilience and learning how to move safely again.
  5. Many callers ask, “How do I talk to my GP?” or “Should I be resting or moving?” Others want to know what their options are beyond medication or surgery. A lot of the time people are looking for reassurance and practical guidance.
  6. 1. Regular strength and mobility work to keep my body strong.
    2. Prioritizing recovery; especially sleep and pacing.
    3. Staying curious and informed so I can apply evidence-based strategies to my own health journey and share my knowledge with others.
