Anxiety and Depression Linked to Chronic Pain
Anxiety and depression significantly impact people’s lives. When anxiety and depression occur alongside chronic pain the impact can be even greater. This presentation will provide you with a greater understanding of the interaction between our mood and our pain, as well as provide a range of practical strategies to manage our anxiety and depression more effectively. Strategies will include managing worry and uncertainty, feeling flat and unmotivated, and how to engage more effectively in life.
Our presenter: Dr Jacqui Stanford is a health psychologist who co-leads a team of psychologists and physiotherapists in the delivery of psychology treatment and pain management services at Empower Rehab. She places a strong focus on helping clients improve their function, at home, socially and at work. Jacqui is involved in the provision of pain management training to a range of professionals. Jacqui consults on the WorkSafe Clinical Panel as a psychology and pain management advisor and has been involved in liaising with GPs and psychologists to help ensure worker’s receive appropriate treatment that improves their functioning.
