Non-opioid Pain Management
Finding relief from the pain is a daily challenge for people living with persistent musculoskeletal pain. In this webinar, Dr Caroline West talks about non-opioid pain management, the different strategies to help manage pain and to be able to do what is most important to you. This can include both medicine and non-medicine options, such as changing the way you think about pain, mindfulness techniques and physical therapies.
Our presenter: Dr Caroline West is a GP and medical advisor for NPS MedicineWise. She has a special interest in chronic pain and lifestyle medicine. Throughout her career she has been a strong advocate for a better understanding and management options for chronic pain. She is the past president of the Australasian society of Lifestyle Medicine and she is a past ambassador for Chronic Pain Australia and has been the contributing author on Chronic Pain for the Lifestyle Medicine Textbook available globally. Dr Caroline West is also a well known TV doctor and health broadcaster and is currently the host of ABC TV’s Ask the Doctor. Dr West has been involved with the NPS MedicineWise national program on opioids and chronic non-cancer pain, which aimed to empower consumers to make more informed decisions about opioids through a suite of consumer-oriented resources.
